I've set up this list BlockLeaders at charlesvillage.info and listed us both as administrators. The main list page is here: http://charlesvillage.info/mailman/listinfo/blockleaders_charlesvillage.info . (The name of the list is case insensitive. You can mail to blockleaders at charlesvillage.info or BlockLeaders at CharlesVillage.info .) If you like, try out the administrative interface page (see the link at the bottom of the main list page). Under the heading Membership Management you'll see the "Mass Subscription" link, which is the easiest way to add several names. Simply write one email address on each line in the form provided and then submit. If you have time this weekend or tomorrow afternoon, I can give you a call and we can talk you through the interface. My number is (443) 391-1010. If you have a quick question, call me any time. It rolls over to voicemail if I'm busy at work. Thanks to those block leaders who were able to distribute flyers! Sorry it's taken me a few days to get to this, but I have been buried under a mountain of Americorps paperwork until today. Who was able to participate last Saturday? What hours did you work? I can certainly count these hours as volunteer hours for the CVCBD. If you have an idea of how many residents on your block were out participating and for how long, let me know that as well. I have attached a simple time sheet to help you keep track of the hours you spend volunteering as a block leader. Feel free to print it out or fill it in electronically and email it to me. To keep things simple, I ask that you report hours at the end of the month. I will also be giving you paper copies of this timesheet soon. All that needs to be reported is your activity, the time spent on that activity and the date. If there are other volunteers who help you with the activity, please indicate that on the timesheet. If not, you can just leave that column blank. I will be in touch soon about further plans for distributing resources for you and surveys for your block residents. Thanks! When they are finished I will need to deliver them to you, and at that time I will also bring you a folder with information and resources for you to be aware of. These are CVCBD resources, as well as city resources. Just good things to know about. I'll be getting in touch with you again when these things are ready to be distributed. I revised the timesheet yesterday, because I realized that it's too small to write on once it's printed out. Then I sent it to the wrong list! (Yesterday was a little hectic, sorry!) So I have attached another copy of the timesheet. You may have received the email yesterday, but it did not go out to this email list. Thanks for all your help, cooperation and patience as I work to get this program up and running. I'm looking forward to getting the word out to residents about the block leaders. Message-ID: Hi folks, So I'm compiling the last resources for information packets and have drafted the surveys and cover letters. I'll make an appropriate amount of surveys according to our maps here, though you may end up with extras if you have vacant houses on your block. Feel free to hang onto them for later or I can always just print up more if need be. I'd like to bring the surveys by, along with packets of resources for block leaders. I can come by in the evening or whatever works best for you, starting tomorrow evening. Let me know what works best for you. Once the surveys come back I will need to get the results from you. If you are able to tabulate the results, that's great. If not, you can pass the surveys along to me. I will probably make copies for our records at some point down the road. I'm not expecting every resident to fill out the surveys, but I am hoping that we get critical mass on most blocks. I am also including information about the Light Up The Night project, which is the long-lasting lighbulbs we have available for front and back porches. This project dictates that we need to make sure these lighbulbs get into porches, and that residents agree to leave them on at night. We encourage leaving them on in the daytime as well, so that they don't forget to turn them on at night. I believe the cost is about 1$ to keep it on day and night for a month. I'll add a space in the survey for folks to indicate that they want lightbulbs. Thanks!! Jeni Spevak` Block Leader Coordinator Charles Village Community Benefits District 2301 N. The meeting is from 6 to 8pm. Here's a link to a pdf for more information: http://www.sha.state.md.us/exploremd/oed/scenicByways/CharlesSt.pdf I also wanted to let you know that there is possible money available through grants for neighborhood events. If you have ideas for events you would like to have on your block in the spring or summer, please let me know asap so that we can line up funding. (You will probably have a better idea of this once the surveys are returned on your block.) Thanks, Jeni Spevak Block Leader Coordinator Charles Village Community Benefits District 2301 N.
