Dear Block Leaders,
We have plenty of leftover mulch for treewells from Wednesday's project with
Hopkins students. Help yourselves. It's located at the vacant lot on the
corner of Whitridge and Greenmount. Whitridge runs east/west and is between
27th & 28th St.

On Wednesday, over 6o freshman students mulched 100+ trees, cleaned 2 vacant
lots, several alleys and streets, and spruced up the community garden at
Barclay and 26th St. Throughout the day over 700 Hopkins students preformed
service throughout the area. Many thanks to Hopkins folks, Greater Homewood,
Parks and People, CVCBD staff and area residents who assisted in leading
teams.

Please encourage your block to get involved in some weekend projects. Let us
know if you need supplies.

Thanks,
Bob Brinkman

Dear Block Leaders,

Just checking in with folks. CVCBD Safety Team is distributing magnets with
our contact information to Block Leaders. Please let them know of any safety
or sanitation concerns. Or contact Wes Tolbert 410-235-4411 x18 or
Safety at charlesvillage.org

1). Some folks are doing weekend clean-ups in September. Let us know if you
need supplies to help with your block clean-up.
2). On Sept 6, 40-50 Hopkins students will be mulching tree wells and
working on some gardening/vacant lot projects in CVCDB. There may be some
leftover mulch, if you have tree wells in need. Check with us on Sept. 7 for
availability.
3). There is still some “greening grant” money for beautification projects.
Grant guidelines and applications are on the CVCBD website
http://www.charlesvillage.org/
4). Each month the Northern Police District has an open meeting where the
public can come to voice concerns. These occur every third Wednesday from
7-9pm. The next one is Sept 20 at 7pm at 2201 W. Coldspring Lane (just west
of I83). To register for CVCBD Crime Alerts, simply go to
http://groups.google.com/group/CVCBD-Announcement?lnk=lr&hl=en and click
"join this group" under the list title. You can also read the latest alerts
without signing onto the list by visiting this page. If you join the group,
the alerts will be delivered to your email inbox.
5). Larceny from autos (car break-ins) are down considerably this month.
Police recently apprehended a suspect during a gas station robbery, who has
admitted to a large number of them. To check on recent crime statistics go
to: http://141.157.54.34/bpdmaps/

Hope everyone is having a nice summer,
