Message-ID: <200701081655343.SM01084@OUTREACH> Hello Block Leaders!!!! I hope your Holidays were relaxing and fun. Now its time to think about the spring and what we want to start planning. I would like to have our next meeting either Thursday the 25th of January or Thursday the 1st of February. Please email me which of the two dates works best for you. (or if neither one works let me know). Over the Holidays we did have a successful Holiday Decoration contest in the blocks surrounding Sharon Guidas block, 2700 Maryland. The participants decorations were fantastic. Next year we hope to expand the contest to other blocks and block leaders!!! ANNOUNCEMENT CHANGES IN THE SAFETY PROGRAM Dear Resident of the Charles Village Community Benefits District: We have made several changes in our Safety Program to serve you better: First - * You will see the safety vehicle patrolling the area more from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. * Vehicle patrolling will increase our presence in the area, increase patrol hours, and increase our monitoring and reporting of any suspicious activity, including sanitation violations. Second - . We will continue to work closely with the police department, Johns Hopkins University security, and Union Memorial security to make sure there is maximum coverage around the entire district. * We encourage you to report all concerns you have to the CVCBD. However, if you see drug activity or any other criminal activity, please call 911, 311, or 666- DRUG before you call us. Third - * As of January 12, 2007 Joey Fair, Supervisor of the CVCBDMA Clean and Safe Teams, is the main contact for both safety and sanitation service requests. His number is (410) 235-4411 ext. 17. . Every staff person at the CVCBD is available to take safety and sanitation service requests, if Joey is not available. * A request for service with the CVCBD is first recorded onto a green request sheet, given a tracking number, and given to the sanitation and safety teams. Put them on your Calendar! Message-ID: <20070111142446.SM01084@OUTREACH> Dear Block Leaders, I have only received one email saying no, and everyone else said yes, to the Thursday the 1st of February, so that is when we will have our next meeting! I'll send out more information on the time and place. For now assume it is at Future Care (27th and Charles) from 7pm to 8pm. Also, tomorrow you all will be receiving double sided fliers for your neighbors. One side will be of the last email I sent you with the changes of the Safety Team and the other side will be the flier announcing a public forum that I am attaching to this email. The Forum is on the Saturday the 20th of January 11-3, so it is important that this information gets out as quickly as possible. Please email these notices out and hand out these fliers to as many residents as possible! I encourage you all to attend the forum, it is a great place to meet other residents, voice yours and hear other residents concerns, and speak directly to the staff and board of the CVCBD. Thank you for all of your help, Katie ps: dont worry if you cant see the thing at the bottom of the email, its the same as the word document I attached. The first email I sent out was not very informative, so I hope this helps. There is a group of 10 students, from Green Valley State University in Michigan, coming to the Charles Village area to participate in an Alternative Spring Break. These students are giving up their Spring Break and have decided to Volunteer instead. They will be driving here from Michigan in a Van and all they need is a place to sleep (not necessarily a bed) and shower. They can be split up, but would prefer to stay in groups. They buy their own food and don't need to be driven anywhere. The homeowner would be compensated for the cost of the students using their water for showering. These students have been volunteering here for several years and come highly recommended. Unfortunately the location they have been staying in is no longer available. They would arrive on Wednesday March 3rd, 2007 and leave on Friday March 9th. Please, if you or anyone you know would be willing to help house these students, please contact Peoples Homesteading Group.
