Gren,

the server that handles the Discussion list is claiming that
AOL's mail server is having some kind of problem, maybe that
it has an invalid MX record or is not responding to queries
to its mail server.  I'm guessing that AOL has taken some
kind of action to protect themselves against the Internet
worm and that this is having unintended consequences.  The
worm is spoofing return addresses, so there are certainly
a gazillion emails going out on the Internet purporting to
be from the aol.com domain when they are in fact not.
It's possible that AOL mail servers are overwhelmed with
sender verification requests, or else they turned this
service off.

I do think this is a temporary problem, and I'm sorry for
the confusion and inconvenience.  I've never seen this
error message before, so I'm guessing as to the true nature
of the problem.
