I'm forwarding this announcement from the Baltimore Ethical
Society.  Matthew Weinstein is their speaker on Sunday,
October 12th, 10:30 AM.  The Society is at 306 W. Franklin St.,
in the Old Congress Hotel.  Here's his title and abstract.

Oct. 12th – "Regional Realities of Metropolitan Baltimore, Trends and
Policies Affecting Equity, Sustainability, and Quality of Life" by
Matthew Weinstein, of Citizens Planning and Housing Association (CPHA)

The presentation discusses: the trends (sprawl, outmigration,
concentration of poverty, etc) that are driving regional growth and
development; the public policies driving the trends at the local,
regional, and state levels; and what CPHA and its allies are doing to
unite the region around reversing these trends

Matthew Weinstein is Regional Policy Coordinator with CPHA, a 61 year
old nonprofit that works to advance community quality of life through
informed citizen action. In this position he works in furtherance of
regional equity in metropolitan Baltimore through CPHA's Campaign for
Regional Solutions (www.CPHARegionalCampaign.org), focusing on coalition
building, advocacy, and policy research and development.   Matthew is
also the president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Jewish
Congress and of the Black-Jewish Forum of Baltimore (BLEWS). Other
current board memberships include the Charles Village Community
Foundation, Charles Village Community Benefits District, Baltimore
Jewish Council, and Interfaith Action for Racial Justice.
