I had always wondered how Taco Bell kept their prices so incredibly low.
Now I know! Check out the excellent boycott website at
http://www.ciw-online.org/tz_site-revision/home/home.html. It includes disturbing media reports
about what the Justice Dept calls "modern slavery" and press coverage of the farm
workers' campaign against Taco Bell, which won them the 2003 Robert F.
Kennedy Human Rights Award.

Food First Action Alert: Support Students on Hunger Strikes for Farmworkers!

For three days, Food First staff marched along the 44-mile "Taco Bell Truth
Tour" from East L.A. to the Taco Bell headquarters in Irvine, California. For
reports and photos from the march, visit http://www.foodfirst.org/ciw.
The Truth Tour has now sparked national action and mobilization to support
the Coalition of Immokalee Worker's demands for justice.
Now, students from Notre Dame, University of Florida, and Grand Valley State
in Michigan are on hunger strikes to pressure their universities to "boot"
Taco Bell restaurants from their campuses until the fast food giant assumes
responsibility for the slavery conditions under which their tomatoes are picked.
The students need your support. Send an e-mail, call, or fax university
administrators now to "Boot the Bell" from college campuses! Go to:
http://www.ciw-online.org/tz_site-revision/home/home.html and http://www.sfalliance.org.
The CIW's struggle for human rights has drawn the support of Mary Robinson,
former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and President of Ireland.
AFL-CIO's President John Sweeney has also written a letter to Yum! Brands Board
member James Dixon, CEO of Bank One, urging Dixon to support a dialogue between
Yum! and CIW and informing him that "13 million members of the AFL-CIO and their
families [will] boycott Taco Bell products until this issue is resolved."

Support farmworkers struggle for their human rights! Take action now!
