The signs promoting the release of a new CD are a form of street marketing
practiced by many record labels in urban areas. It is certainly illegal and
not approved by the URO Committee. Apparently Nu Do Da Ji Restaurant must be
undergoing some type of facade improvement which required placing boards on
the exterior. Like graffiti these posters pop up overnight in urban areas
across the country.

To all:

Does anyone know what the two (2) 8' x 20' signs are all about on Nu Do Da
Ji Restaurant on the grand boulevard of North Charles Street and 25th
Street? One proclaims a cd that is being released in May 2004 and another
is some event in June of 2004. I thought the URO was to "reatain a
pleasing architectural character", "an attractive community appearance" and
"distinguish historic architecture of the district to build an identifying
image". Were these signs submitted for approval to the DHCD? Were these
changes submitted to the CVCBD for approval?

The legislation also states that the signs must "insure that signs are well
designed and add to the existing character of Charles Village". So if
these two monstrous signs represent the existing character of Charles
Village, this is not what was explained to the residents by Messrs. Januzzi
and Klocke. Ms. Pauline Davis did you help Nu Do Da Ji with these signs on
one of your "munch and crunch" lunches?

Christian
