I'm forwarding this from a friend who sent me some information
about events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Great Fire
of 1904.

Lots of events this year as part of the 100th anniversary of the fire.
Some of these events are listed at:

http://home.earthlink.net/~wschaumburg/

In addition to what is listed there, on Sunday February 1st and 8th, the
Box 414 museum at 414 N. Gay Street (Old Engine No. 6 house in Old Town)
will be open from noon until 4:00 pm. The museum building was used as an
infirmary during the fire. There will be vendors, and weather permitting
they will have
apparatus on display.

On Saturday February 7th, some of the fire companies whose predfecessors
responded to the fire will be on display at Hopkins Place and Baltimore
Street starting at 10:00 am. They will later relocate to the Box 414
Museum for the dedication of a plaque marking the building's use during
the great fire.

There are other events planned for the year as well. I've been trying to
keep abreast of all of them, but haven't found one spot that seems to
list them all.

I think the Maryland Historical Society's exhibit should be worth
seeing,
as they have been planning it for several years and were actively
seeking
artifacts from the fire.
