[Chat] Waverly Giant vs Safeway (25ht and Charles)

Hey all, I'm a new member to the list but CV resident for about a
year. I really love the neighborhood and I'm glad to have found what
appears to be an active list (thanks preston!).

I went to the Safeway until the Giant opened (about 8 months) and have
gone to the Giant mostly because it's about 3 blocks from my house. I
have been continually frustrated with the Giant though. They are
regularly out of basic produce - today it was celery, two weeks ago it
was garlic. There are lots of deli personell but they are extremely
slow. The rest of the staff have never heard of slightly out of the
ordinary things like pine nuts (which they don't carry). As soon as the
snow lets up I think it will be well worth going to the Safeway again,
even if it is a 10 minute drive rather than 2. The checkout staff are
great though! Never had any problems like the one you described, Brad.
