[Chat] flower thief

I'm sorry about the plants that were stolen--stealing from someone's garden is such a low-life thing to do. My plants are more likely to get trashed, and it always makes me feel bad when they do. I try to be careful about what I plant out front--I don't plant tall daffodils any longer, because people always pick those, and some weirdos will pinch the flowers off day lilies. But people leave the short daffs--tete-a-tetes and minnows--alone, and for some reason people don't pick the tulips and don't seem to be impressed by the hostas and vinca. So far I haven't lost any shrubs, but it could happen--I've heard that in some areas landscapers look for trees to steal for their customers!

The graphics business on St. Paul used to have a sign up stating that the flowers are for everyone to enjoy, not to pick. Don't know if such signs would help, but they might be worth a try.

Ditto here. I've caught a neighborhood kid picking my flowers twice and over the weekend someone
removed a perennial from my gated front yard.
