BALTIMORE, MD - The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) will honor 
fallen U.S. military personnel and Iraqi civilians with its traveling exhibition:
Eyes Wide Open: The Human Cost of War.

Friday, September 9,
Saturday, September 10,
and Sunday, September 11th

University.

AFSC, an international social justice organization, created Eyes Wide Open to 
illustrate the lives lost in the war in Iraq. In addition to the more than 
1,800 pairs of combat boots representing U.S. military casualties, the exhibit 
contains an important second component: a labyrinth of shoes representing the 
tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians who have perished in this war. A wall of 
remembrance honors their sacrifices and travels with the boots.

The exhibit, which opened in Chicago's Federal Plaza with 504 pairs of boots 
in January 2004, will continue growing as the death toll continues to rise. 
Since March, 2004, the tour has been to more than sixty five cities across the 
country.

The American Friends Service Committee is a Quaker organization that includes 
people of various faiths who are committed to social justice, peace and 
humanitarian service. Its work is based on the belief in the worth of every person 
and faith in the power of love to overcome violence and injustice.
