Odette and D. Williams,

Thank you for your messages. Nothing seems to be leaking. I have a new pipe
from the street to the house.

I'll try Cindy tomorrow.

I called Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke's office about this for a neighbor a
couple of days ago - apparently this has been happening to other folks
across the city and it's because the bureau of water and waste water at the
city is starting to use a different system (trying to upgrade finally) - and
it has a few hic-ups now and then. Call Mary Pat Clarke's office, Cindy
(her staff person) can help. Or call the customer service number on the
bill, and they will probably tell you the same thing and re-work the bill.

Hope this helps.

Odette

That can not be right, unless there is a problem with a water line break?
Noticed any sediment in your water?

Christine,

By all means, have the city send someone out to re-check your meter! Just
call the number on your statement for billing inquiries. Last summer, I got
a water bill for $900 when the meter reader inverted two numbers.

Also, you can check for a slow leak in your commodes by putting cold coffee
or a cola in your toilet tanks. If there's a slow leak, the water in the
bowl will turn brown. In all likelihood, the folks in the utilities
department will suggest this, so it's good to be able to tell them you've
already checked this possibility (As if a slow leak would increase your
total water usage by a factor of ten...!).

Hope this helps!

Kathleen

Has anyone else's water bill jumped like mine has?

My last two bills have been about $90 for 10 cubic feet of water. (I don't
know how much that is.)

The bill I received yesterday is for $470 for 116 cubic feet of water.

Nothing has changed in my life!

Is it possible to get another reading of the water meter?

Has this jump in water use happened, without a reason, to anyone else?

Thank you,

Christine Gray
