[Chat] Sudden notice to move legally and permitted vehicles with the threat of towing with no reason or action to warrant it.

Yesterday, with less than 24 hour a notice was posted in the upper 3000 block of Guilford saying that all the cars needed to be removed by 6Am on Saturday morning until 4pm, giving no reason and with only a threat that any cars left would be towed. It had the Baltimore Police Dept at the source of this notice. I called our precinct (NE) and the officer at the desk knew nothing about this. Today, Saturday absolutely nothing was done on our street after the vehicles were moved. I ask for as many of you as possible to contact the mayors office about this matter. We were (a) not given sufficient notice and (b) not given adequate cause, (c) nor did the police know about what this was about, (d)410- and nothing was done to warrant this action. Does this mean the city just changed the dates and we are going to ordered again to move our cars? What if people are traveling on that particular weekend or just happen not to come out of their houses during the 24 hours of the posting? Is it just that their cars are towed away? We pay for parking permits which give us the right to park in front of our homes and in the neighborhood. Do we have to start worrying that at the whim of the city or the street department or the water works that they can just come in and start towing legally parked vehicles. The CVCA RPP area 37 committee is meeting with the Dept of Transportation next week on RPP enforcement.  I believe that the Dept of Transportation handles those notices.  If you like, I will be happy to talk to them about the process and find out which department is responsible for the short notice for follow up purposes.



A few members of the CVCA committee on Traffic Calming are also attending Greater Homewood's Neighborhood Institute on Sat 11/15 and we can find out more there as well.



In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt for you to send an email of complaint to the Mayor's Office so that you are on record. Let me know what response you receive.



I will keep you posted on this issue and I would appreciate it if you would do the same.
