I'm guessing there might be a Charles Villager or two who might be interested in this...

Here is an interesting article about Norway's offshore oil rigs, which are said to be the safest in the world: http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/joe_conason/2010/05/03/norway

To:

Friends,

As the oil flow in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of Oil) continues to spill at the rate of as much as 95,000 barrels a day, calls for more off-shore drilling continue to be heard. We say "No new permits for off-shore drilling. Speed up our research for alternative forms of energy." Some of us even say, "Nationalize the oil/energy industry so it can be properly regulated and its profits go back to the people."

WHAT: Picket line for one hour

WHEN: Sat., May 29, 11a.m to 12 p.m.

WHERE: BP Station at 33rd and Greenmount

Our May 16th peaceful picket line was very successful with a dozen people protesting. Many passing cars honked or gave us the thumbs up. Let's make the line even bigger on the 29th. Bring your own sign to express your outrage at corporate disregard for human life and the environment. For more information: 410 308-1326 or 410 433-3269.
