[Chat] Virus threat

Both FedEx and UPS offer a shipping service where final delivery is made
by the Postal Service.

I received an email ostensibly from FedEx claiming that I had a package
that the post office had been unable to deliver. The email told me to
click to print out a receipt which I could take to the post office to
claim my package. Fortunately, after I clicked on it, my anti-virus
software reported that it was a threat before I could open whatever I
was clicking to. When I looked further, the email was not from FedEx.
The subject of the email was given as "Tracking ID" with a number, and
it ostensibly was from Priority Shipping Service.

Fortunately, my antivirus software warned me not to make a big mistake
in opening what the click was leading me to. It was some sort of zip file.

Also, if the postal carrier cannot deliver a package, (s)he will leave
something telling you that. So I should have realized faster that the
email was an attempt to deliver malware.

The moral is BE CAREFUL. I was lucky.

Steve
