font-family:Arial'>So my fellow Charles Villager John Spurrier came over all
prepared this morning to do a full change-out of the porch light fixture, but
as it turns out, the fixture was already of the type that accepts normal-sized
bulbs-- it's just that the bulb that had been in it was amber-mercury. So, John
took the cover off, took out the amber-mercury bulb, handed it to me; I took it
inside, put it with the other burned-out bulbs in the basket in the lobby, and
grabbed a 60-watt white-light long-lasting "director's bulb" from the
new package that was in there. Then I gave that to John; he screwed it in, put
the cover back on, and voilą. Simple enough! Gee, and to think I went through
all that grief about the potential need to get the whole fixture replaced. John
and I both agreed that had either of us known about the presence of a
normal-sized fixture in that porch lamp before, this could have been done
months or even years ago.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
