12.0pt'>The Baltimore City Police Dept is about to implement one of the most<br>
innovative training initiatives that has been undertaken in the entire<br>
country. The Police Commissioner is taking a big risk in this investment in<br>
training but the outcomes can be potent. <br>

The Northern District will be leading the way and the Community Relations<br>
Officers are asking for our help. Please see below. If you know someone<br>
who would like to help train our (the Northern's!) officers on communication<br>
skills, community relations, dealing with citizens, etc., PLEASE ask them to<br>
volunteer. No guarantees, but they are likely to gain as much from the<br>
experience as the officers! <br>

If you or others you know, have had interactions with police officers<br>
anywhere and you muttered to yourself "this guy could sure use some
training<br>
in talking to citizens," this is a chance to raise the bar here in<br>

The Northern District has been selected as a pilot district to participate<br>
in a 28 day enhanced policing training session. Part of this session will<br>
focus on community interaction and officer communication skills. For this<br>
session, we are seeking volunteers from the community to assist and<br>
participate in this phase. We will need 25 volunteers on April 23rd and an<br>
additional 25 volunteers on April 24th. We will be providing transportation<br>
from the Northern District Station to the Sykesville training complex. We<br>
will be departing at 10:00 a.m. and returning at approximately 4:00 p.m.<br>
both days. Lunch will be provided. If interested in participating, please<br>
