Hi Block Leaders!
 
Just wanted to let you know of some of the upcoming events happening before
and on this year's National Night Out, which is next Tuesday, August 1st.
 
Saturday August 29th
-Pre-Parade - 12 noon. Parade on Greenmount Ave. starting at 35th street and
walking down to 29th street.
 
Tuesday, August 1st
-Abell - Green Space on 32nd St. between Abell Ave. and Guilford Ave.-
8:30pm. Ice Cream Social/Cookout
 
-Charles Village - 27th Street and Lovegrove St. (between St Paul St. and N
Charles St.) - 7pm. Street Party
 
-Old Goucher - Green Space on N Calvert St. between 21st St and 22nd st.-
7pm. Cookout
 
If you would like to do your own street party, block party or social, just
let me know and I can help you organize!
 
Here's some info on National Night Out from the website. I just got word of
another gunpoint robbery on the 3000 block of Remington Avenue which
happened just after midnight last night. Please come out to support the
neighborhood and drive crime from our streets!!!!
 
 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to: 

*	Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
*	Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime
programs;
*	Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
and
*	Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are
organized and fighting back.

 Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch
vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods 'celebrate' NNO with a variety of
events and activities such as: 

*	block parties,
*	cookouts,
*	visits from local police and sheriff departments
*	parades, exhibits,
*	flashlight walks,
*	contests, and
*	youth programs.
