This evening Kathleen and I ate dinner with our friend Irma
at the Mediterranean Palace restaurant, just one block up from
the Senator on York Road (directly across from Van Dyke and Bacon).

The food was quite tasty. Appetizers: an excellent Baba Ghanouj
(eggplant dip) that was very lemony, Falafel that was nice and crisp,
and grape leaves that were a bit too chewy. Main dishes: Kathleen
got a veggie kabob ($8) that was quite good, and I got the Mujdarah
($7), a somewhat plain dish of rice and lentils, topped with
fried onions. I thought it was quite tasty.

The seating is pretty spare, and it appears they do mostly
carry-out. I saw posters of Syria on the wall, so I assume
that the owner is Syrian. Although I don't usually think of
Syria as a Mediterranean country, it lies on the Eastern coast
of the Mediterranean Sea. There's a bar and package store next
door that sells single bottles of beer and wine if you want
to BYO.
