[Chat] Concerning 311 Calls - two systems - one for Police and one for City Services

Here is the reply I received from my friend Elliot Schlanger, who is the City Chief Information Officer:

"About that 3-1-1 info... remember there are two 3-1-1 units.  On the 3-1-1
recording, if you hit option 2 for police matters, you get the old police
non-emergency unit.  If you hit option 3 or hang on the line, you get the
new City services department.  The other way to tell is that the police
3-1-1 agent will never give you his name, only an ID #, while the City
services customer service agent will ALWAYS give you their name.  The City
services operation is mine... the police unit is under police.  However, if
you can get me a badge number, I can intervene, especially if the caller is
not getting the proper attention.  Feel free to pass this on."
