Judy...I used to live at 3001 Abell for many years.  We had water in our basement in that house.  I recommend
that you call Steve Dallmus (his number is in the book-the whites pages part of the yellow pages).  He
is a home inspector.  He knows old houses and can probably tell you what the problem is.  I have hired him
before and each time he has helped me solve the problem.  Because he doesn't have a vested interest in trying to sell you something
else, he gives you a straight answer.  When we lived on Abell the problem was a that a downspout needed to be re-fouted.
Imagine if we had spent money on french drains or some other expensive repair when we didn't need it.

Whenever I have a mysterious problem, especially one involving water, I call Steve.

I am wondering if any of you have contractors that you would recommend. We are having some water in our basement and are interested in having someone take a look to tell us what might be happening. We don’t know if we just need a sump pump or if we need further work on the back of the house. We are also potentially interested in a few new windows.
