Folks,

Here is the latest on my efforts to rid the City of illegal signs.  Mr.
Thompson has been very helpful in providing information on what the city is
doing in this regard.  Note that he prefers we NOT remove signs ourselves,
but use the 311 system.  Most are too high to be removed anyway.

I also sent him a message regarding the sandwich signs.  BTW, doesn't the
CVCBD use a sandwich sign in front of their office?  Is this allowed under
law or not?

We have been unable to obtain a address to issue citations to Wire
Master LLC,,  the number is either a cell phone or is unpublished, and I
suspect they have caller ID because when we have called and inquired
about their business address they would not provide a mailing address.
However,  we finally have an address for ARC based on the search of the
phone number.  We are able to issue citations to them under the name of
Advantage Remodeling on Falls Road.

Many companies will state they are not aware they cannot post the signs,
but we have attempted to make them aware by phone, which I feel is one
reason many of these companies use either unlisted numbers or cell
numbers.

Please do not remove the signs instead call 311 and provide the
locations, we have an arrangement with Transportation regarding illegal
signs, they provide me with a list of locations from 311 each morning
and I have an officer take pictures of the signs and issue citations,
and then Transportation removes the signs after 12:00 p.m., by doing
this we can issue the citation and have the sign removed.  The fine is
$100.00 per sign, but the officer must see the sign and take a picture
before we can issue a citation.

Thank you for your dedication to getting this matter of illegal signs
resolved.

I have recently noticed new signs cropping up for Wire Master LLC and
ARC  Remodeling.

(I removed two for Wire Master LLC in the East Lombard Street and
Highland  Ave area) - phone 410-961-5501.   The ones for ARC Remodeling
(410-662-1900)  are along Loch Raven between 25th St and 33rd Street ( I
tried to remove
one at Exeter Hall and Loch Raven - but it was too high).

I called both numbers and advised the people I spoke with about the
illegality of these signs and the blight they present.  I got the
impression  that they did not know about the law or your enforcement
process.
