Emil,

My impression is that the New York 3000 must be a high quality lock. The 
fine print on previous
Kryptonite locks provided $$$ coverage if your bike was stolen with the 
exception of in NYC.

Besides using car jacks to break the locks thieves would spray the locks 
with freon then break them with a mallet or hammer.

When I saw how Bic pens were being used to defeat the lock mechanism I was 
astounded.
