¨PLEASE SUPPORT WATER HOOK-UPS FOR COMMUNITY GARDENS.
City Council hearing is on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 1pm, City Hall

 Plants need water.

Across the City, volunteers turn vacant lots from blighting influences into flowering gardens. On the 600 block of Homestead Street, for example, in the 14th District's Better Waverly neighborhood, Miriam Avins has spearheaded a community co-op garden of vegetable growing and sharing.

To provide the water needed, however, we need the City to agree to a plan whereby community gardeners will pay a basic fee to reinstate a vacant property's water service, free of sewage costs and based on a seasonal rate only, paid in advance. That's what the hearing is about.

To register your support, please contact Council President Sheila Dixon and Councilman Ed Reisinger, chair of the Land Use Committee that will hear this resolution on August 10.
