Attention professors, teachers, students, independent scholars, and all of
those interested in Baltimore's history:

Entries are still being accepted for the 2005 Joseph L. Arnold Prize for the
best writing on Baltimore's history.  Entries should be attached to
electronic mail in MS Word or PC convertible format and should be submitted
by February 15, 2006 to Baltimorehistory at law.umaryland.edu.  A panel of
distinguished judges will anonymously grade the entries and select a winner.
(The names and credentials of the entrants will be masked so as to assure
blind review.)

Entries for 2005 should be unpublished manuscripts between 15 and 45
double-spaced pages in length.  Criteria for selection are:  significance,
originality, quality of research, clarity of presentation.  The winner will
be announced in the spring of 2006.  The BCHS reserves the right not to
award the prize.  The winning entry will be considered for publication in
the *Maryland Historical Magazine*.
