Here is some information about a film screening at the VLP next Monday.

"The Big Buy: How Tom DeLay Stole Congress" is a new documentary from Brave
New Films, the film production house set up by Robert Greenwald, the
producer/director behind "Wal Mart: The High Cost of Low Price", "Outfoxed: Rupert
Murdoch's War on Journalism," and "Uncovered: The War on Iraq". Following his
now-standard model for releasing these highly charged films that would not be
likely to find a large-scale distributor, the movie is being released across the
country through home and community screenings sponsored by the organizations
working on these issues, such as Common Cause, Public Campaign, the ACLU, and
others.

The screening in our area takes place at the Village Learning Place on
Monday, July 10 at 7 pm. If you plan to come, please RSVP on the film's website at
http://bigbuy.bravenewtheaters.com/screenings. The VLP is located at the
former Enoch Pratt Library branch at 2521 St. Paul Street in Charles Village.

You can read more about the film at www.tomdelaymovie.com. While the focus
of the documentary is national, its topic relates directly to the efforts here
in Maryland to enact public financing of state legislative elections, which
for the first time this year passed the House of Delegates (HB 1054) and came
out of committee in the State Senate (SB 569). We will have information at
the screening about how to get involved in that effort.

Please forward this e-mail to others who may be interested in this important
topic.
