I just posted the following to our neighborhood listserv. Since there
are more than a few people who read this board living in the southeast
quadrant of our great city, I'd thought I'd pass this along in the
event that anyone here is interested as well. (And, if it's a go, I
just know I'm going to regret volunteering to organize this!)

After being horrified at the images coming out of the
Westland/Hallmark beef plant, I decided it best to try to eat only
humanely raised beef and poultry.

This lead me to an outing today to Sparks, to Springfield Farms

Anyway, the farm supplies beef
and poultry to some restaurants in the City, and I asked about
possibly having a drop off point for non-restaurant owning city folks.

Anyway, he said that if we had about a dozen people interested, he
would definitely do a drop off in Butchers Hill. For it to work, he
would need orders totaling about $500 per drop.

I'd be happy to organize this should people in BH be at all
interested. While the beef, eggs, lamb, chicken, milk, pork (including
that regional fav, scrapple) etc. is way more expensive than you can
get at Safeway, it's locally and humanely raised and tastes a million
times better. And, as we know, eating locally reduces one's carbon
footprint, and not having to drive to North Baltimore County reduces
it even more!

Also, if enough people are interested, the owner, David, would happily
speak at a BHA meeting or other gathering about his farm and
sustainable farming practices.
