DPW Cautions Citizens: Beware of Public Works Impostors

Baltimore City Department of Public Works warns citizens to be aware of
impostors posing as Bureau of Water and Wastewater employees. They try to
gain illegal entry into your home, distract you and steal from you. The
impostors may wear what appears to be "official looking" clothing and may
state that they want to check the resident's water pressure because of some
type of "water work being done in the area."

Citizens should remember the following:

* No Public Works employee will ever come to your home unless you have
requested assistance and an appointment has been made.
* Department of Public Works employees are not authorized to enter your home
without your permission.
* Always ask to see a Baltimore City employee identification card which
includes a photograph.
* Report any and all suspicious activity to the Police Department by dialing
911 immediately.
