[Chat] Recycling Problems

The alleys east of Guilford and north of 30th are narrow, not like the named alleys west of Guilford Avenue. The residents were asked to put their recycling in front of their homes because the trucks cannot negotiate the smaller alleys. The workers now spend extra time collecting from both the front and rear. There would be less spillage if they were able to collect from the front only on blocks where the alleys are too narrow for the truck.

You may want to ask the recycling office if they can change the route to
pick up in front of your houses on that block instead of behind. I know
they mentioned that the trucks they use for recycling are too big to fit
down some of the alley streets, which is why they carry the bins down to the
end of the block.

Hi Neighbors,
The recycle truck just came by in the alley on the East side of the 3000
block of Guilford and the guys created much more mess in the alley than they
cleaned up. Apparently they are not bringing the truck down the alley and so
they clumsily carry the bags and bins down some way with trash spilling out
all along the way, which they do not clean up. They also do not return the
bins to their proper place. I called and complained. Be aware of this and
please complain if there is a mess in the alley and your bin is not where it
should be. Thanks, David O'Donaghue
