Vielen Dank, Emil. Unser Messerschleifer ist jetzt suedlich von Baltimore, und es braucht furchtbar viel Zeit, dorthinzukommen. Wir werden deinem Vorschlag folgen. Friedrun.

Hello, neighbors,

If you haven't had your kitchen knives sharpened
in a while, I recommend that you try Adams & Assoc.
in Hampden.  Today I went over, and Mr. John Quincy
Adams (yes, a descendant of the president) did
seven knives and a pair of kitchen shears while
I waited for $31.  I chopped some onions, and
it was great.  I knew that our knives were not very
sharp, but boy did this make a difference!

You can reach him at (410) 889-9072.  He works
out of the carriage house behind his home, which
he has converted into a workspace.

Call before you come by, because it's often just him.
To get there, take 41st west past the Rotunda and
Superfresh.  Turn left on Falls Rd.  Go a block and
turn left to go back east on 40th St.  (40th St.
jogs, and you see west before east.)  Go about
15 yards and take the left marked "Dead End".
Go the garage right behind the white house.
There's a bell to ring on the garage.

Interestingly, most of his business is sharpening
grooming shears, which is more difficult than knives,
and is apparently a dying art.  His business is
mostly mail-order, with clients as far away as
Alaska and New Zealand.  He says he is happy
to do walk-in jobs but jokes that it's "pin money".
(I'm remembers Saltpeter vs. Pins in "1776".)
