This is so frightening. This community works so hard to be safe & vibrant. This makes me think back 5 years, when a man on a bicycle came after me with a knife outside of our building. Thank god I got in the building before he caught up to me.

Best wishes to the young man on Calvert Street, my prayers are with you.

I just came across this brief article in The Sun.

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/blog/2011/08/police_investigating_stabbing.html

Police investigating stabbing by home intruder in Charles Village

Police confirmed that they are investigating a stabbing by an intruder who broke into a home in Charles Village Tuesday night.

According to a report, the 25-year-old victim and his girlfriend were awakened by his barking dog at 11 p.m. and the victim went downstairs, where he found an intruder in the living room of his home, in the 3100 block of Guilford Rd. [sic]

The intruder punched the victim in the face, then brandished a knife and "continuously stabbed the victim in the face and his side until the struggle ended, allowing the suspect to flee the residence." As of last report, the victim was at Johns Hopkins Hospital in stable condition.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with a medium complexion, 6'0"-6'3", short hair and a slim build. He is believed to have entered through a rear kitchen window, which had been left open for ventilation.

Northern District detectives are investigating.

Emil, thank you for the warning.
Any updates on the outcome of this would be welcomed. Was the person who was attacked able to identify the person. Can we possibly get more information about a description of who did the attacking so that we can be on the look out for this person if we see them milling around waiting for another house to break in to?
