Dear Block Leader/Prospect:

A Block Leader identifies and directs concerns of neighbors to the appropriate service provider, provides valuable information to neighbors about available services and program opportunities, organizes block activities such as block parties and cleanups, and meets regularly with other block leaders to share information and ideas.   The goal of the Block Leader Program is to identify and support a block leader on every block face in Abell, Barclay, Charles Village, Harwood, Old Goucher, including residents, business owners, and property owners.

If you have not yet done so, please go online to www.charlesvillage.org and sign up to receive from Charles Village Community Benefits District (CVCBD) the weekly "Crime Alert" and monthly "All that Dirt" which contain valuable information including block leader updates.

1.    Next Regular Meeting: Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 6 p.m. at 29th Street Community Center at Barclay and 29th Streets. Please RSVP to Sharon at charlesvillage.org.   We are meeting monthly for the 1st 6 months and then will convert to bi monthly meetings after that.

2.    Block Leader 2-day Training:   Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2434 St. Paul Street and Thursday, February 20, 2014 at GHCC offices in 3500 block of N. Charles Street. Please RSVP to Sharon at charlesvillage.org. Training to be conducted by Greater Homewood Community Corporation (GHCC) and will provide you with skills you can use in communicating with your neighbors and with helpful information on how the Block Leader program works.

3.    Thanks to all of you who attended the December 19th Pot Luck Get together.   It was exciting to hear about your ideas for block activities and to have such a good mix of veterans and newcomers.

If you hear of anyone who is interested in learning more about the Block Leader program, please give them my email address and ask them to contact me.

I hope to see you soon.
