The Charles Theatre is glad to be sponsoring the sixth High Zero Festival,
Baltimore's strange and exotic annual music event. Each year, High Zero
brings together the talents of some 28 musicians with a bent towards
improvisation
and mad-scientist-like experimentation for four days of all-new
collaborations, 20+ live concerts at The Theatre Project, a program of
sound installations, street performances, and workshops.

For those interested in hearing new sounds, High Zero provides a chance
to see and hear a very wide range of inspired music mixing famous virtuoso
players with
fascinating 'unknowns' from Baltimore, across the country and Europe,
the festival is unique on the East Coast. At the same time, it is very
much a grassroots endeavor, full of eccentric "Baltimore Fla! vor." Among
the varied concerts, giants of free jazz wrestle with the latest
electronic music, wild invented instruments are played in unexpected
ways, minimalism meets with chaos, and a tremendous number of
pleasurable surprises takes place.
